Question 1

What is DeskDrive Pro?

Accepted Answer

DeskDrive Pro is "The Work-Inn Clipboard": a natural wood clipboard on a black 3D-printed frame with a standard metal clip, folding steering-wheel hooks, a hidden storage compartment, a removable phone bar, and built-in pen storage.

Question 2

How does it work as a steering wheel desk?

Accepted Answer

Folding parts with hooks let it hang on your vehicle's steering wheel so the board becomes a flat desk for lunch or paperwork. Use as a desk only while parked.

Question 3

What fits in the storage compartment?

Accepted Answer

The bottom section opens on magnetic closures to reveal an internal compartment that holds paperwork and a tablet or phone. A top slot also lets you slide paperwork straight into storage.

Question 4

How does the phone bar work?

Accepted Answer

A removable bar clips across the front of the board to hold your phone higher up, so it stays visible while you write.

Question 5

Where do I keep my pen?

Accepted Answer

There's a built-in pen storage channel in the frame, so your pen rides with the board.

Question 6

Who designed it?

Accepted Answer

Carlos Ayala, a San Antonio, TX driver who eats lunch and does paperwork in his vehicle every day, invented it around his real needs. He developed it at 10BitWorks, San Antonio's largest and oldest community makerspace, with help from Don Smeller on the CAD.
